Stadium SUPER Trucks UFD At The Glen

Stadium SUPER Trucks to visit Watkins Glen International for UFD at The Glen

WATKINS GLEN, New York (September 1, 2017) – SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks continue the 2017 World Championship this Labor Day weekend back in the United States with its first ever visit to the state of New York and the famed Watkins Glen International.

Stadium SUPER Trucks 1st Annual UFD at The Glen will feature Race 1 on Saturday, rounded out with Race 2 prior to the start of the Verizon IndyCar on Sunday.

Opened in 1956 the 11-turn purpose build road course has featured everything from the open wheeled cars of Formula 1 and IndyCar to the NASCAR Cup Series. Never in the 61-year history of Watkins Glen International have the racecars competing looked to take flight on purpose.

Times have now changed and ten 600-hp highflying Stadium SUPER Trucks will launch over four 36-inch tall aluminum ramps placed strategically throughout the racecourse.

Featuring two different race circuits this weekend the Stadium SUPER Trucks will race the 8-turn 2.454 mi (3.949 km) short-course that is often used by the stockcars of the NASCAR circuit. The much different open wheeled cars of the Verizon IndyCar Series will compete on the 11-turn original road course.

The starting lineup for Saturday’s race was determined from each driver’s fastest lap time in Friday morning’s qualifying session. Following the qualifying session, a full field inversion from fastest to slowest was put in place, meaning Shaun Richardson, from Scarborough, United Kingdom, will start from pole alongside Always Evolving driver Erik Davis of Burbank, California.

Row two will consist of United Fiber & Data driver Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Pennsylvania starting inside Aaron Bambach of Rochester Hills, Michigan making his second start of 2017 in the The Productivity Team Engineering Services/ LSG Insurance Partners entry.

Row three will find former Dirt Short Course driver Jeff Hoffman of Phoenix, Arizona, and Stadium SUPER Trucks points leader Matt Brabham of Gold Coast, Australia driving the DEVILBISS truck. Brabham won the Stadium SUPER Trucks last event held in Beijing National Stadium in Beijing, China.

Gavin Harlien of Mesa, Arizona will start in the seventh position, along side veteran driver Robby Gordon of Orange, California. Gordon is the only driver in the field whom has won at Watkins Glen International claiming a NASCAR Cup victory in 2003.

Quick Qualifier Paul Morris of Norwell, Queensland, Australia will start in the ninth position driving the LIVE entry and Stadium SUPER Trucks rookie Steve Kendall of Santa Ana, California will make up the tenth starting position after encountering a broken rear-end housing during qualifying and not recording a time.

SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks Race 1 will be contested Saturday afternoon at 12:30 P.M. local time. Tickets can still be purchased at http://www.theglen.com

Fans that are unable to come to the track are able to tune into the race by visiting https://stadiumsupertrucks.com or by visiting the Stadium SUPER Trucks Facebook Live at https://www.facebook.com/StadiumSuperTrucks

STADIUM SUPER TRUCKS RETURNING TO TEXAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY IN 2018 FOR JUNE TRIPLEHEADER WEEKEND

FORT WORTH, Texas (August 22, 2017) – The SPEED Energy Stadium Super Truck Series will return to Texas Motor Speedway in 2018 for the “No Limits Off-Road Rumble,” creating another diverse tripleheader weekend scheduled for June 8-9 that also includes the Verizon IndyCar Series and NASCAR Camping World Truck Series.

The Stadium Super Truck Series received rave reviews from fans during its inaugural event held in June during the Texas Indy 600 weekend. The series hosted two races that same evening as the Verizon IndyCar Series race – one prior to that event and one following Victory Lane ceremonies – to add to the annual Saturday evening show.

The “No Limits Off-Road Rumble” will once again be paired with the also newly named “No Limits Off-Road Ruckus.” The ruckus will feature an expo and interactive activities for enthusiasts of jeeps, trucks, Utility Terrain Vehicles and buggies. The expansive layout covered the infield inside of Turn 2 this past June.

“The Stadium Super Trucks were a great addition to our June race weekend and judging from the response from our fans it was a huge hit with them,” Texas Motor Speedway President Eddie Gossage said. “The Super Trucks also give our fans quite a diverse weekend with three different disciplines of motorsports.”

The course layout proved challenging for competitors while entertaining for race fans. The unique layout incorporated the frontstretch and infield paddock area, featuring ramps along the frontstretch, a jump into the South Paddock and a soaring under-over-jump. The course also offered multiple race surfaces with portions of the track made of dirt to partner with the asphalt of pit lane and the frontstretch.

PJ Jones won the opening race and Sheldon Creed the second race, but Gavin Harlien was crowned the overall champion based off finishing points from the two races combined.

“SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks is looking forward to returning to Texas Motor Speedway in 2018,” Stadium SUPER Trucks President Robby Gordon said. “The Texas Motor Speedway staff likes to do things big, and with SST’s return to the Texas Indy 600 weekend it will be bigger and better. We plan on building a bigger crossover jump, and tailoring the track to create even more high-energy, full contact racing. Texas is known as a truck state, and we are excited to bring our high-flying SST trucks back to Texas.”

SST To Race At Watkins Glen

WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. (August 10, 2017) – Watkins Glen International announced today the addition of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks to the racing lineup for the upcoming INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen Sept. 1-3.

Led by the Verizon IndyCar Series, the Labor Day weekend event features six motorsports classes, including Indy Lights, Pro Mazda, USF2000, MX-5 Cup and the Stadium SUPER Trucks.

In all, there will be 12 practice sessions, seven qualifying sessions and nine races culminating with the Verizon IndyCar Series race Sunday, Sept. 3 at 1 p.m., live on NBCSN.

The Stadium SUPER trucks will take to the track three separate times throughout the weekend holding practice/qualifying on Friday, Sept. 1 at 11:15 a.m., followed by Race 1 on Saturday, Sept. 2 at 12:30 p.m. The second race will take place in advance of the Verizon IndyCar Series race on Sunday. Green flag is set for 12:10 p.m.

“If there is anything that can add even more excitement to our INDYCAR Grand Prix at The Glen race weekend, it’s Robby Gordon and his series,” said Watkins Glen International President Michael Printup. “This is going to be unlike anything that our fans have ever seen at Watkins Glen International. Personally, I’m very curious to see how those trucks get around America’s fastest road course.”

The widely popular SST Series features 12 identically prepared 650-horsepower trucks that are built to take flight much like a scaled down radio-control car. Able to race on virtually any surface thrown at them, the SST trucks will race the 2.45-mile, 8-turn short course, compared to the 3.37-mile Grand Prix circuit utilized by INDYCAR.

The SST races will feature 36-inch tall aluminum ramps placed in strategic locations throughout the course, allowing the trucks to fly 20 feet off the ground and hundreds of feet down the course, all while hitting speeds upwards of 140 mph.

“For Stadium SUPER Trucks to visit the state of New York and the Northeast for the first time, I cannot be more excited,” Stadium SUPER Trucks President Robby Gordon said. “I’ve had a lot of success at Watkins Glen throughout my career, and have built a large fan base in that region. To bring the door-to-door action and big air of Stadium SUPER Trucks to ‘The Glen’ for the first time, the fans are going to be ecstatic for SST racing.”

Stadium SUPER Trucks feature a 10-event schedule in 2017 spanning three countries, touring as co-events with INDYCAR in the United States, Supercars in Australia and Monster Jam in China.

In addition to former Indy car and NASCAR driver Robby Gordon, a wide variety of drivers from all forms of motorsports will be in attendance, such as 2015 & 2016 series champion Sheldon Creed, Arie Luyendyk Jr., Bill Hynes, Erik Davis, dirt specialists Gavin Harlien and Jeff Hoffman, as well as the top two in the current point standings, Australia’s Matt Brabham and Paul Morris. With this being the first visit of the trucks to the famed Watkins Glen International, all drivers are expected to have an equal opportunity at winning.

INDYCAR returns to Watkins Glen International for the Sept. 1-3 race weekend, featuring the Verizon IndyCar Series, Indy Lights, Pro Mazda, USF2000 Championship powered by Mazda, Battery Tender Global Mazda MX-5 Cup and SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks, in an action-packed event. For tickets and additional information on this can’t-miss weekend, call 1-866-461-RACE, or visit us online at www.theglen.com.

DeVILBISS and Matt Brabham capture Darwin Australia SST Race 2

Darwin, Northern Territory (June 17, 2017) – Matt Brabham driving the DeVILBISS No. 83 truck captured Saturday’s thrilling second round of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks (SST) Darwin Triple Crown at the Hidden Valley Raceway besting Mesa, Arizona driver Gavin Harlien to the line after a tremendous battle between the two throughout the race.

Jumping out to an early lead from his fifth starting position Matt Brabham from Gold Coast, Queensland wasted no time setting the pace of the event working his way past truck after truck to the front. Following in the Toyo Tire tracks of Brabham was Detroit and Texas overall winner Gavin Harlien of Mesa, Arizona.

Harlien showed how fast his Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck was today sliding back and forth all over the track, going off in the grass, and still able to come within a truck length of Brabham for the lead. As Harlien would challenge Brabham for the lead multiple times, he would never be able to keep the No. 55 truck in front of the smooth driving Brabham.

While the two young hot-shoes were battling hard for the lead, savvy off-road veteran Robby Gordon of Orange, California was making a charge to the front of the pack from his seventh starting position. After a late race red flag that saw Gold Coast, Australia driver Paul Morris flip over on his side. Gordon used that to his advantage to dive to the inside of multiple trucks on the restart including Harlien placing Gordon in the second position.

The last corner would see Harlien get by Gordon for second place, as the Gordon truck would run out of fuel. Spitting and sputtering the SafeCraft Safety Equipment truck would coast to a third place finish.

Brabham would go on to capture his third victory of the 2017 season ahead of Harlien, and Gordon.

TruFuel 50:1 driver Jeff Hoffman of Phoenix, Arizona would continue his weekend of respectable finishes racing hard in the top five again throughout Saturday’s event to be recorded in the fourth position.

Craig Dontas from Adelaide, South Australia finished fifth in the Shannon’s Insurance entry driving a great race, keeping all panels on the truck to break his bad luck streak that started after capturing victory at the Clipsal 500 back in March. Fellow South Australian Greg Gartner from Penola would start in the second position, and drop back to mid pack by Lap-2 after getting off track several times. Settling into a good rhythm the driver of the R & J Batteries truck would be credited with the sixth position.

Race 1 winner Paul Morris of Gold Coast, Queensland was credited with the seventh position in the Morris Finance truck after making contact with the wall thru the front stretch chicane. After coming to a complete stop Morris would climb up the tire barrier, and tip over bringing out the red flag. The SST recover crew would tip the No. 67 back on four Toyo Tires and let him continue.

Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Penn. would be credited with the eighth position after encountering transmission issues on the warm up lap in the Road Pod Transport Transformed truck. After starting from the first position and leading the first two laps not having completely working transmission would be too much for the veteran driver, as the rest of the field would navigate past him as he struggled to keep pace.

The Stadium SUPER Trucks finale of the Darwin Triple Crown weekend at the Hidden Valley Raceway will be contested Sunday afternoon at 4:30 P.M. local time.
