‘The DUDE’ Paul Morris Wins SST Darwin Opener in Thrilling Fashion

Darwin, Northern Territory (June 16, 2017) – Veteran Aussie driver Paul Morris came into today’s Race 1 in Darwin looking for serious redemption as the last time he was on Australian soil (May/Perth) a last lap tangle with another driver spoiled an over all weekend victory.

With this weekend being the first visit of the SST trucks to fast and technical Hidden Valley Raceway that makes up the 14-turn 1.78-mile (2.85 km) course built for the newly re-named SuperCars series many drivers would struggle to hit their marks throughout the race running off the track into the grass.

However, the two drivers that would have no issues making there way through the field and on track would be Paul Morris of Gold Coast, Queensland and Orange, California driver Robby Gordon. The two veteran racers aggressively charged past truck after truck from their fourth and seventh starting positions respectively to put on a show for the fans at the front of the field the final six laps.

The two iconic racing heroes of Australia and the United States battled back and forth swapping the lead six different times with clean hard racing nearly colliding with each other multiple times. The last lap would see Morris complete a daring move to the inside of Gordon for the final time as the Morris Finance/ SuperCheap Auto No. 67 was just too much for the SafeCraft Safety Equipment entry. Morris would go on to capture the win much to the delight of thousands of screaming Australian Stadium SUPER Truck fans.

DeVILBISS racer Matt Brabham of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia never paid for a ticket, but had the best seat in the house to view the Morris/Gordon duel. Brabham would cross the finish line behind Gordon in the third position after leading the first two laps of the 12-lap event.

Gavin Harlien of Mesa, Arizona the hottest driver on the SST circuit the last month picking up overall victories at both Detroit and Fort Worth the last two weeks would qualify his Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck in fourth in his first ever visit to Hidden Valley Raceway. Driving smart and keeping the truck in one piece to capture

Friday Fast Qualifier Jeff Hoffman driving the TruFuel 50:1 truck would advance from his last starting position after the full field inversion to run in the fifth position following his teammate and friend Gavin Harlien the entire race. On a tricky track to pass on for the SST trucks Hoffman would finish the race in the fifth position. Picking up valuable points in the weekend overall chase.

Greg Gartner from Penola, South Australia making his seventh SST start of 2017 finished sixth in the R & J Batteries/ Delkor Calcium Battery backed entry, while Adelaide, South Australia Ute veteran Craig Dontas would continue his struggles behind the wheel of the Shannon’s Insurance backed SST claiming the seventh position after sliding off course various times.

Front row starter Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Pennsylvania whom would feel under the weather upon arriving to Australia would fight thru flew like symptoms to keep the Road Pod Transport Transformed truck on track to finish the race in the eighth spot.

The SST trucks will return to the Hidden Valley Raceway for there second round of the Darwin Supercars weekend on Saturday at 3:10 P.M. local time in front of an anticipated capacity crowd.

Robby Gordon Wins Stadium SUPER Trucks Race 2 at Gold Coast 600

Gold Coast, QLD, Australia (October 22, 2016)- Robby Gordon captured Saturday’s troublesome second round of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks Presented by TRAAXXAS (SST) at the Gold Coast 600 in Gold Coast, Queensland, beating TRAXXAS driver Matt Brabham to the finish.

Positive Quality Trailers/ Savino Del Bene/ Thor Demolition driver Shaun Richardson of Scunthorpe, United Kingdom in just his fourth SST start would finish in the third position, after an incredible battle with Arctic Cat/KTM Australia driver Toby Price. Price’s truck would break on the last lap, but he would still be able to limp it home to a fourth place finish.

As more than 50,000 spectators lined the 15-turn 1.85-mile (2.98 km) beach side street circuit on Saturday to watch 12 TRAXXAS-branded trucks launch off of man-made ramps on the same DOT-approved Toyo Tires that consumers can buy. The loud raucous cheers of disbelief from the massive Australian crowd could be heard over the trucks as fans of traditional Supercar racing saw the trucks literally fly through the air side by side and on occasion on top of one another as we saw in Friday’s opening event.

Friday’s winner in Race 1 of the Gold Coast 600 Sheldon Creed of El Cajon, Calif. would start in the twelfth position, and waste no time moving to the front of the field. By Lap-2 Creed was up to the second position battling for the lead with early leader Penola, South Australia, Aus.; driver Greg Gartner. By Lap-4 Creed would apply heavy pressure to Gartner and look under him to grab the lead.

On the restart of the competition caution Orange, Calif.; driver Robby Gordon driving the Hot Wheels/Toyo Tires truck for injured SST driver Matt Mingay would drag race past Creed for the lead down the front straightaway. As Creed would duck in behind Gordon he would start to loose power under the hood of his TRAXXAS machine, Creed would fall back truck after truck would move past him in the running order.

Gold Coast, Queensland, Aus.; driver Matt Brabham would follow Gordon past Creed and look to contend for the lead from Gordon. However, Brabham would have no match for Gordon as would work his way to an extensive lead the rest of the race.

The real race was for the third position as 2015 Dakar 2-wheel Champion Toby Price of Singleton, New South Wales, Aus.; and Shaun Richardson traded the position multiple times in the closing laps of the event until Price’s truck would break allowing Richardson to hold the spot solely.

Gordon would go on to capture the win in the 12-lap event ahead of Brabham, and Richardson who would claim his first SST podium.

Nazareth, Pennsylvania driver Bill Hynes driving the World Gym Australia truck would hold his ground from his eighth starting position. Keeping his truck clean and hitting all jumps square Hynes would go on to capture a season best fifth place finish.

Limping his truck home to a sixth place with a alternator that broke off the mounts Sheldon Creed would gain valuable points in the SST World Championship race with fellow TRAXXAS teammate Matt Brabham.

Pacific Pines, Queensland, Aus.; driver Matty Nolan driving the Haymans Electrical Wholesaler truck would start the race in the third position, but that would not last long. After settling into the second position on Lap-1, Nolan would make contact with Toby Price entering the temporary chicane and would completely blow apart all the barriers. Under USAC rules and regulations any driver to touch the chicane would be penalized and sent to the back of the field. After a full course caution to re-set the barriers Nolan would encounter mechanical issues a few laps later and would pull into the pit lane and not finish the event. Nolan would go on to be credited with the seventh position.

Royal Purple Synthetic Oil driver P.J. Jones of Scottsdale, Arizona after having a wild finish with Matt Brabham for second place a day previous would start Saturday’s race in the eleventh position. Remaining patient for the first portion of the race avoiding the hornet’s nest in front of him Jones would be able to advance to the fifth spot by Lap-6. However, that would be the highlight of Jones day as the No. 30 would encounter mechanical issues on Lap-8 and would not finish. Jones would go on to be recorded in the eighth spot.

Greg Gartner of Penola, South Australia would experience power steering issues with his R&J Batteries/Fuchs/Delkor Calcium Battery truck during morning practice. However, with not enough time to fix the issue, Gartner would jump into the vacant truck of Adelaide, South Australia, Aus.; driver Craig Dontas at the last moment.

From the wave of the green flag Gartner would jump out to the early lead from the second starting position, and pace the field for three laps prior to getting past. On Lap-6 the Gartner truck would begin to slow on track with an issue. Eventually would pull into the pit lane prior to the completion of the race. Gartner would go on to be credited with the ninth position.

Pole sitter Paul Morris of Norwell, Queensland, Aus.; would encounter mechanical failure on Lap-1 of the race and would pull the SuperCheap Auto/Hungry Jack’s truck onto the pit lane and observe the rest of the 12-lap event.

After experiencing a practice accident where teammate Paul Morris suffered a brake issue, Sara Price of Canyon Lake, Calif.; went for a wild ride into the tire barriers damaging her SuperCheap Auto/Coffee Sisters truck. CAMS officials after post race inspection determined the fuel cell had enough damage to it where it was not safe to compete in the race. With not enough time to switch out fuel cells, S. Price would be sidelined for the second SST event.

Adelaide, South Australia driver Craig Dontas whom is doing double duty this weekend competing in the V8 Ute division and the Stadium SUPER Trucks for the first time would be involved in a hard accident in the V8 Ute race and would be cleared from CAMS medical staff in enough time to make the SST starting time. Similar to S. Price, Dontas would watch the SST event from the sidelines.

The third and final race of the Gold Coast 600 weekend for the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks Presented by TRAXXAS will take place Sunday afternoon at 12:15 p.m. local time in front of another anticipated massive crowd.

2016 Sand Sports Super Show, September 16th & 17th

CHARLOTTE, North Carolina (August 30, 2016)- Robby Gordon’s SPEED Energy Stadium Super Trucks Presented by TRAXXAS will return to the OC Fair and Event Center Sept. 16 & 17 for two nights of exciting off-road racing action at the Sand Sports Super Show.

Similar to the last three years, another spectacular dirt and asphalt track will be built at the Orange County Fair Grounds. Last year’s layout produced some of the best racing we have scene in Costa Mesa with door to door racing action all over the track from the 650-horsepower TRAXXAS SST trucks. However, the highlight of the unique track was a massive ramp that launched the trucks at least 30 feet in the air, and across opposing lanes of traffic. This signature crossover jump is one of the most impressive aspects of any motorsports event and is one of the reasons the Orange County race generates a capacity crowd of off-road enthusiasts year after year.

In addition to the thrills and spills of the high flying SST trucks, Sand Sports Super Show attendees and UTV racers of Southern California will be treated to the addition of the $5,000 to win OPEN UTV Shootout. All makes and models of UTV’s are welcomed to compete in this newly added event, and a chance for one driver to bring home one of the biggest winnings offered in UTV racing today.

For more information, and how to register for the OPEN UTV Shootout please visit https://stadiumsupertrucks.com or email Chris Hecht at checht@stadiumsupertrucks.com.

In addition to the OPEN UTV Shootout, Arctic Cat will hold their own under card race each night featuring celebrities and local Arctic Cat dealers. In similar fashion to SST racing, each competitor will be assigned to an identically prepared Arctic Cat Wildcat 1000 to take on each other in a true test of drivers skill.

While at the Sand Sports Super Show and SST race make sure to stop by and visit both Arctic Cat displays for new 2017 models and products. The main display will be located in the Sand Sports Super Show, while a smaller version will be located in the Stadium SUPER Trucks pit area.

Also returning to accompany the exciting SSTs and UTVS, will be a full slate of racing by the fan favorite 1400 trucks. These desert racers turned short course machines have been apart of the Stadium SUPER Trucks Sand Sports Super Show program since the inception back in 2013, and when they are on track you never know what to expect. In 2014 Michael Cox stole the show launching his modified Ford Bronco sky high much to the delight of the roaring crowd, last year it was Buddy Baker and Ryan Kibbe with the TrophyLTD car whom stunned the crowd and other competitors competing with the trucks. Who will be the highlight of the 1400 class in 2016?

Single- day tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for kids under 12, Police, Fire and active or retired military with a valid ID. All tickets will be sold at the gate on race day. Friday’s event will feature Kids free for kids under 12.

Companies and individuals interested in renting fully catered VIP suites that include private elevated seating for 25 per evening, refreshments and food, can call Stadium SUPER Trucks at 704-949-1255 for pricing. Hawk Performance Named Official Brake Pad of SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks Presented by TRAXXAS

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (March 14, 2016) – SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks announced today it has joined forces with a familiar name in aftermarket motorsports parts, officially commencing an alliance with Hawk Performance as their Official Brake Pad partner.

“We put the Hawk Performance DTC-50 brake pads to the test in Australia last week in the opening round of Stadium SUPER Trucks. With the increased talent behind the wheel, temperatures exceeding 100 degrees, and a capacity crowd exceeding 80,000 people each day, we needed the best brakes and guaranteed zero fade,” said series founder, Robby Gordon. “The DTC-50 was game-changing for our drivers and fans, allowing us to race flag-to-flag without ever letting up on either pedal.”

“The Stadium SUPER Trucks are now racing on our latest racing compound, Hawk Performance DTC-50,” confirmed Hawk Performance Managing Director, Todd Romano. “This compound was developed from our original Champ Car Compound, and has proven to love both the extreme cold and hot use that road course and desert racing puts on brake pads.”

Recognizing the tremendous advantage of partnering with a veteran in the friction brake parts arena, Gordon noted, “I have made a career of having the best technology on my race cars. More often than not, we have had to create that in-house, and spend countless hours manufacturing our own custom solutions. Hawk Performance is able to give us the best technology right out of the box.”

“We continue to look for exciting partners in racing,” added Romano. “We have seen great value in our IndyCar program with Team Penske over the past three years, and to now put Hawk Performance on Stadium SUPER Trucks, racing on the same road courses and in front of the same fans, elevates our brand and its proving grounds to an entirely new level.”

Matt Mingay Wins Stadium SUPER Trucks Sydney 500 Finale at Sydney Olympic Park

Homebush, New South Wales (December 6, 2015)- Famed Australian stunt man and SST driver Matt Mingay captured his second Stadium SUPER Trucks Presented by TRAXXAS victory of 2015 on Sunday morning in the SST TRAXXAS trucks finale of the Sydney 500 on the temporary Sydney Olympic Park temporary street circuit in Homebush, New South Wales, Aus.

Mingay, a resident of Gold Coast, Queensland, Aus., drove his No. 2 Hot Wheels/ Castrol EDGE-sponsored truck to the front of the pack dodging bumping and banging trucks in front of him. Rob Whyte would get into the TRAXXAS truck of Scottsdale Ariz., driver P.J. Jones on Lap-2 allowing Mingay to get by into the second position behind early leader United Fiber & Data driver Matt Brabham from Gold Coast, Queensland, Aus.

A restart would set up a sprint for the finish as Brabham, Mingay, and 2015 SST Champion Sheldon Creed would go 3-wide for position down the extra wide back straight going into the corner. As the three would bump into each other not giving any ground Mingay would nab the lead, followed by Creed, shuffling Brabham back to the third position after been stuck on the outside.

As Creed looked inside Mingay for the lead going side by side over the TRAXXAS jump, the red flag was displayed as Nazareth, Penn., driver Bill Hynes would roll over his United Fiber and Data truck placing it on its side in the middle of the racing surface. Hynes would exit the truck unhurt, but the time limit of the event would expire cutting the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks Presented by TRAXXAS final event of the 2015 season short 2 laps.

Mingay would be declared the winner, followed by Creed in the second position, and Brabham rounding out the podium.

Jones would be credited in the fourth position in his TRAXXAS truck, as LIVE / Think Loud Entertainment driver Scotty Steele from Peoria, Ariz., would recover from a rough start to the weekend to finish the race in the fifth position. Norwell, Queensland, Aus., driver Paul Morris in his SuperCheapAuto / Hungry Jacks truck would drive a conservative race capturing the sixth position.

South Australian driver’s Brad Gallard and Greg Gartner were credited with the seventh position and eighth positions respectively after both had contact early and lost valuable groud on the lead pack.

Hynes, would be recorded in the ninth position after his roll over troubles through the chicane. Gold Coast, Queenland, Aus., driver Rob Whyte’s race was ended early after his Just Car Insurance / Motul Oil TRAXXAS truck made heavy contact with the outside tire barrier.

SPEED Energy/ Toyo Tires driver Robby Gordon of Orange, Calif., would continue with more bad luck as a motor would expire on in early in the race event crediting him with the eleventh position.

Sheldon Creed would capture the overall win for the weekend with the lowest average between all three races with his two wins and second place finish, Second was claimed by Norwell, Queensland, Aus., driver Paul Morris in his SuperCheapAuto.com truck, and the overall podium was completed by race 3 winner Matt Mingay.
