SST TO RACE IN SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA OCTOBER 26-28

The Boost Mobile Stadium Super Trucks series will compete at Sydney Motorsport Park as part of the Australian Motor Racing Series (AMRS) program next week.

To be held over the October 26-28 weekend, it will come a week after the series was scheduled to compete as part of the supporting cast to the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship at the Vodafone Gold Coast 600.

SST was replaced on the bill by the Kumho Tyres Touring Car Series after CAMS suspended its Australian competition licence.

The AMRS is unaffiliated with CAMS, as it is run by the Benalla Auto Club-owned (BAC) Australian Auto Sport Alliance, and therefore can allow the category to compete.

“We are super excited to be able to give Australia what they want and that is for us to race,” said SST owner and competitor Robby Gordon.

“I want to thank Chris (Lewis-Williams, BAC CEO), Wayne (Williams, AMRS manager) and the team for asking us to come on board as part of the program, all of our sponsors and drivers are excited and looking forward to doing battle at the exciting Sydney Motorsport Park track.”

Williams hailed the addition of SST, which has not held an Australian round away from the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship since 2015, to the AMRS program.

“Everywhere they go, the Stadium Super Trucks pull a massive crowd, and we can’t wait to have them at Sydney Motorsport Park,” said Williams.

“They will put on a spectacular show for everyone watching, whether they’re at the track or viewing the live stream.

“Over the last couple of weeks, it’s no secret that Stadium Super Trucks has had to make some last-minute changes to their 2018 schedule, so we’re thrilled to have offered SST a place to compete and add them to our event program.”

Lewis-Williams is confident that the trucks are safe to race at a permanent circuit such as Sydney Motorsport Park after modifications which organisers made in light of the CAMS suspension.

“Sydney Motorsport Park is a very different venue to a street circuit, and the AASA and our insurers are comfortable with the work Stadium Super Trucks have done on addressing any safety concerns, such as improving the strength of the wheels and incorporating a new locking section for the body work,” he said.

“The Stadium Super Trucks are closely aligned to another series that the AASA sanctions, the ARB Australian Off Road Racing Championship, so we’re aware of the strength of the vehicles and similarity of those vehicles to the Stadium Super Trucks.

“Our job at the AASA is to assist categories to go racing and that’s the opportunity we’ve been able to create for Stadium Super Trucks who want to keep racing in Australia.

“Although one avenue (Gold Coast) was shut down, that’s the beauty of having choice in the market, there is an alternate sanctioning body to give categories an opportunity to make a choice about how they want their motor racing to be run.

“The AASA and AMRS are completely aware of the popularity of Stadium Super Trucks and are pleased we’re able to give them an opportunity to continue racing here.”

Defending champion Paul Morris also welcomed the news.

“It’s awesome to be able to race in Australia in the Stadium Super Trucks at Sydney Motorsport Park next weekend,” said Morris.

“It’s extremely obvious from the public backlash that motorsport fans want to see us race and see the series continue to compete in Australia.”

The occasion will be the first time that Stadium Super Trucks has raced at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Its previous appearances in the Harbour City both came in 2015, at Sydney Speedway near Parramatta and at the Sydney 500 at Olympic Park.

By joining the AMRS bill, SST will share the weekend with 10 other categories, which include the GT-1 Australia, Australian Formula Ford, and Performax TA2 Muscle Car Series, with Sunday’s racing to be live streamed.

The news comes after Peter Adderton, founder of the series new Australian naming rights sponsor, criticised CAMS for what he claimed is an ongoing failure to disclose to SST exactly how the series can comply with the governing body’s safety requirements.

CAMS CEO Eugene Arocca claims that SST has in fact been informed and that he would not discuss the matter with a sponsor.

Matt Brabham leads the series with one more event set to come, at Glen Helen Raceway in California, after Sydney.

MASSIVE PAYOUT FOR INAUGURAL ROBBY GORDON OFF-ROAD WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS AT GLEN HELEN OUTDOOR NATIONAL MX TRACK

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (August 15, 2018)– SST officials have announced plans for the Robby Gordon Off-Road World Championships to take place Friday, November 30; Saturday, December 1; and Sunday, December 2 at Glen Helen Raceway in San Bernardino, California.

Southern California is a place where Off-Road Truck Racing, Motocross, FMX, and the UTV industry all collide on a daily basis. Glen Helen Raceway provides the ultimate location to host such a large-scale event such as the Robby Gordon Off-Road World Championship will be.

“Last year we settled the SST World Championship over in Lake Elsinore with an incredible Stadium event where it came down to a single point to decide Paul Morris as the SST CHAMPION over Matt Brabham, but off-road racing is a lot more than just SST trucks and UTV’s. Back in the beginning of my career we use to race at Riverside Raceway with the Mickey Thompson Off Road Grand Prix, and I wanted to bring back something similar with 2 classes of Motocross, 2 classes of UTV’s, FMX and SST Trucks for a weekend long Off Road World Championship. The Glen Helen Raceway campus provides the perfect location for us to host large crowds for a weekend long event with EPIC racing, camping, music, and venders all close to the Los Angeles area,” Stated Stadium SUPER Trucks President, Robby Gordon.

Set against a mountain side North of San Bernardino, California on 256 acres of shared county property the Glen Helen Raceway was built in 1985 to host several sand drag, off-road, and motocross events at various tracks constructed over the years. However, it was the annual stop for the Motocross National event that put Glen Helen on the map with its National MX track. Famous for its famous steep hills, jumps, and banking it offers the perfect combination of extreme obstacles for the various disciplines the Robby Gordon Off-Road World Championships will feature, as all classes will look to conquer the ever challenging outdoor motocross track.

The 2018 Off Road Word Championships will feature 2 unique classes of Motocross; the Unlimited class will feature 250 2 Stroke vs. 450 Pro, and the 125/250 class will feature 125 2 Stroke vs. 250 4 Stroke Pro races. The best riders from all around the world will be on hand to battle for one of the richest purses of the year with the Unlimited Class battling for $15,000 cash to the overall winner, while the 125/250 MX riders will have there own $5,000 overall prize to go after.

Principal of Glen Helen Raceway, Bud Feldkamp voiced his excitement for the newly announced Robby Gordon Off-Road World Championships.

“I am very excited about Robby Gordon’s Off-Road World Championships coming to Glen Helen Raceway this year. As a long-time off-road enthusiast, I myself can remember all the excitement that was shared at places like Riverside Raceway in the 70’s with these Mickey Thompson style events. Glen Helen is on board and ready to do everything possible to make it a truly unique race experience for everyone.”

UTV Pro is Quickly becoming one of the most popular, and most affordable forms of off-road racing today. The UTV division will feature two different classes with the Turbo and Normally Aspirated cars. The two classes will be competing together for a large $10,000 to win overall prize.

Also being contested over the course of the weekend will be a huge FMX Best Trick contest, and an amateur Jump Contest that will be open to all pre-runners, desert and short-course trucks, buggys, cars, and UTV’s. More information regarding both events will be released in the coming weeks.

Robby Gordon Off-Road World Championships is not just action-packed racing on track, make sure to come out to the track early each day as a full off-road and motocross life style village will be happening throughout the day. Rights Deal Signed For Stadium Super Trucks In Australia

Boost Mobile boss Peter Adderton has signed a three-year rights deal for Stadium Super Trucks in Australia and is in discussion with Supercars management to make them a regular support act at major events in 2019 and beyond.

The Boost Mobile Group, which is a major sponsor of Walkinshaw Andretti United, has penned the deal with SST creator Robby Gordon with the idea of giving the category stability and a bigger presence in Australia.

It is believed that Adderton met with Supercars boss Sean Seamer at the Australian Grand Prix in March and the basis of those conversations encouraged him to further negotiations with Gordon.

A dynamic marketer, Adderton has already started building a management team and wants to meet with Supercars bosses as soon as possible in an effort to get a 2019 calendar confirmed.

Adderton has employed former Adelaide 500 General Manager Nathan Cayzer to head-up the new championship, while the logistics will be handled by Paul Morris Motorsport at this Norwell Motorplex on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

Cayzer and former Adelaide 500 co-worker Craig Dontas brought Stadium Super Trucks series to Australia back 2015 after meeting with Robby Gordon at the 2014 Long Beach Indycar event.

The Supercars event wish list includes the Australian Grand Prix, Perth, Darwin, Townsville, Gold Coast and Newcastle.

There has also been discussions of a dirt/tarmac event under lights at the new Tailem Bend circuit in South Australia and a possible link with the XGames, which will be held in Australia for the next three years.

“I can confirm that we have the SST rights in Australia for the next three years,” said Adderton.

“What we do with them and what the final championship looks like is in the hands of third parties, including Supercars, who we are looking forward to sitting down with again.

“So many people have identified the potential of the Stadium Super Trucks, but we have done something about it.

“Whether Supercars want to play ball with us or not, we will be taking Stadium Super Trucks to a whole new level in this country and building on what is already a large, young and engaged audience.

“Watching these SST trucks for the first time, the crowd reaction was a real eye opener for me and I believe the motorsport fans deserved more than just three events .”

It is believed that a couple of stadium events are also planned as part of the Australian championship, but there will be a series of standalone events if an agreement cannot be reached for an extension of the current Supercars program.

While a non-traditional form of motorsport, the SST races have been a massive hit with fans on both sides of the Pacific.

The popularity has not only been through fans on track, but through a massive social media following which is one of the largest in world motorsports.

Adderton used motocross and off-road events in the US to build his Boost Mobile brand and has relationships with high-profile competitors like Chad Reed, Toby Price, and Robby Maddison, who could all possibly make appearances in the Australian championship.

Robby Gordon WINS Adelaide Race 2

Adelaide, South Australia (March 3, 2018)- Robby Gordon with stood a late charge by Gavin Harlien and Matt Brabham to capture victory in Saturday’s thrilling second round of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks at the Adelaide 500 in Adelaide, South Australia.

Pole sitter Toby Price of Singeton, New South Whales driving the McDonalds/ Ramsey Brothers truck would benefit from a poor finish on Friday to start up front in Round 2.

From the wave of the green flag Price wasted no time jumping out to the early lead, but it did not take Orange, California driver Robby Gordon long to pressure him for the top.

The two competitors would race side by side with close hard racing for multiple laps running away from the rest of the field before Gordon would find an opening to move past for the lead on Lap-3. Gordon would drag race Price down the long straightaway to move in front of him entering Turn-10.

However the driver on the move was Gavin Harlien of Mesa, Arizona driving the Road Pod Transport Transformed truck, as he would work his way thru the field from the seventh starting position to challenge Price for second.

At the start of Lap-4 Harlien would find an opening over the front stretch ramps to move past Price just before the chicane to move into second behind Gordon. Price would battle back, but would not be able to move back past Harlien as Gordon would begin to pull away from the field.

The next lap would see Price would loose the handle on his McDonald’s truck in the corner on Lap-5 loosing multiple positions, and loosing all sights of the leads trucks.

Gold Coast, Queensland driver Matt Brabham would move past the spinning Price truck to slide into the third position, as he would immediately attempt to pressure Harlien for second.

Gordon would have the best seat to view an epic battle unfolding behind him with good clean hard racing between Harlien and Brabham for multiple laps.

Harlien would try his hardest to catch Gordon on the last lap trying everything he could to work his way past, but the savvy off-road and road race veteran was just too fast on this day.

Gordon would capture his first victory of the 2018 season, ahead of second finishing Gavin Harlien whom re deem himself from a poor finish in Friday’s opening race. Matt Brabham would take the third position rounding out the podium for the second straight day.

Following Saturday’s third race of the season, Gordon wanted to give a special thanks to the hard working Stadium SUPER Trucks technicians who have been battling various mechanicals on the SPEED Energy/ Toyo Tires truck the last few days.

Coming off a rough finish in Friday afternoons opening event Paul Morris driving the OZ Land Security truck would have a better day on Saturday crossing the line in fourth position while yesterday’s second place finisher Arie Luyendyk Jr. driving the Boost Mobile entry would earn a top five finish for the second straight day.

Adelaide, South Australia; driver Travis Milburn was sixth in his TRG Transport No. 77, followed in seventh by fellow South Australia racer Greg Gartner driving the R & J Batteries/ Fuchs entry.

Yesterdays winner Cole Potts of Scottsdale, Arizona; driving the HallmarkTrust.com truck would get bounced around mid back throughout the race and would never advance getting credit with the eighth spot. Getting in a tangle late in the race for the second day, Blade Hildenbrand of Yucca Valley, California; driving the VP Racing Lubricants & Fuel/ HeatWave truck would finish in the ninth position.

Race No. 2 pole sitter Toby Price of Singleton, New South Whales would lead the first two laps of the event in a tremendous battle with Robby Gordon before going wide in a corner, and spinning out loosing tremendous ground to the lead pack. Price would run out of time to recover and would go on to finish the eight lap event in the tenth position.

Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Pennsylvania driving the LIVE/ United Fiber and Data entry would be recorded in the eleventh position.

After spun into the wall early in the event Phoenix, Arizona driver Jeff Hoffman driving the LIVE No. 47 would loose a large amount of track position and would never catch the pack again. Hoffman would be credited with the twelfth and final position.

The SST trucks will return to the Adelaide Street Circuit for the third and final round of the Adelaide 500 on Sunday at 2:20 pm local time prior to the Supercars race in front of another capacity crowd.
