SUPER TRUCKS TO RETURN TO THE GOLD COAST IN OCTOBER

The Boost Mobile SUPER Trucks return to Australia for the 2019 Vodafone Gold Coast 600, October 25-27. With the announcement fresh of the press that CAMS have given Stadium Super Trucks the all clear to race again in Australia, Supercars and SST Australia have put ink to paper.

The Boost Mobile Super Trucks have been a crowd sensation in Australia since first racing at the Clipsal 500 back in 2015, which resulted in one of the biggest attendances in history at the multi-award-winning event.

Boost Mobile Founder Peter Adderton who has been supporting Nathan Cayzer and the comeback mission from behind the scenes, is excited about the future of what he feels is one of the best forms of motorsport in the world.

“Robby Gordon has created a great package over the years, he knows it’s about entertainment and value for the fans,” Adderton said.

“Boost Mobile wanted to help Robby bring back Stadium Super Trucks to Australia, we love the entertainment, the racing, the noise, the future potential growth of this category and that it’s about the fans all across Australia.

“In the past there were a few elements missing, now the stars are aligning with the strong support from Boost, Robby, Cams and Supercars with their talented production teams we will see Boost Mobile Stadium Super trucks back for the fans bigger than ever.

“We have always believed that Motorsport is about entertainment and every time I watched the Super Trucks from Adelaide to Long Beach in the USA the fans would go crazy for them. We are happy to be a part of bringing back some of the most exciting racing in the world.”

The stadium trucks have grown a massive following around the world, capturing the imagination of millions as an adrenaline pumping spectacle as these 600hp beasts fly through the air.

“I have built so many amazing memories since our first time here in Australia so to be able to have all things sorted with CAMS to be able to get back to Gold Coast one of the very best street tracks in the world and the way that Gold Coast turns it on is incredible” said Robby Gordon, who has raced in Indy Car and Stadium Super Trucks on the streets of Surfers Paradise.

“It’s been an incredibly tough 16 months not being able to race in Australia but I’m thankful to Eugene Arocca and CAMS for their efforts in making this possible for SST to be back racing in Australia and Sean Seamer and Supercars for welcoming SST back to be part of the brilliant series they run.”

Nathan Cayzer, whom has been an instrumental piece in bringing the series back to the shores of Australia and bringing SST to the Clipsal 500 in 2015, will head up all discussions around events and commercial partnerships in Australia. “It is super exciting to be able to have SST return back to racing in Australia and even better that we have been able to be back with the incredible series it is in Supercars,” Cayzer said.

“An enormous amount of work has gone on behind the scenes for both parties to get to this point.

“It’s a real win for all the supporters and motorsport fans of Australia, I can’t thank Peter Adderton enough for his support to me in pushing to get SST back in Australia.”

Supercars CEO Sean Seamer said: “It’s great news our fans are able to again see Stadium Super Trucks back racing on the streets of Gold Coast, I’m thankful to Robby and Nathan to have been able to turn things around so quickly and get things all in place with our team for this October.”

Stadium SUPER Trucks To Return To Adelaide In 2020

Stadium Super Trucks to make highly-anticipated return to the 2020 Superloop Adelaide 500

In an exciting development for fans, the 2020 Superloop Adelaide 500 will host the opening round of the Stadium Super Trucks (SST) series, following their highly-anticipated return to Australia.

The popular category was today confirmed as the first support category to race at the iconic Victoria Parklands street circuit from 20 – 23 February 2020, coinciding with the release of tickets on sale.

Renowned for its spectacular, adrenalin-charged action, the SST’s return to the Superloop Adelaide 500 is a major coup for fans, says the event’s General Manager, Alistair MacDonald.

“The Stadium Super Trucks have long been a fan favourite and we are excited to announce that they will headline the support category line-up for the 2020 Superloop Adelaide 500,” said Mr MacDonald.

“We are committed to putting on a show for race-goers, and as an international category the high-flying trucks will help the event maintain its status as one of the biggest events on the Australian motorsport calendar.

“The announcement coincides with the release of tickets on sale to the general public, so we are encouraging all fans to jump online and secure their seats for the 2020 event.”

The popular off-road racing series will see four days of action with two practice sessions confirmed for Thursday, followed by a qualifying session on Friday and a number of races across the weekend.

Created by former IndyCar and NASCAR racer Robby Gordon, the American series has raced at Australian events since 2015, before a hiatus in May 2018 due to safety concerns raised by the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport (CAMS).

“We have worked really hard to be able to have SST return back to racing in Australia under the CAMS banner, an enormous amount of work has gone on behind the scenes with CAMS and to now be able to race again is really exciting” Said SST representative Nathan Cayzer.

“We look forward to bringing the series back to Adelaide once again and showcasing our thrill-seeking sport in front of South Australians.”

Powered by a 600-hp Chevrolet LS V8 engine, the trucks weigh 1,300 kg and are built with a steel-tube frame and fiberglass body. All trucks feature a three-speed transmission, reaching speeds as high as 230 km/h.

The SST series requires that all SST trucks are identically prepared and delivered to drivers in race-ready condition, with race winners decided by driver skill rather than individual team engineering and budgets.

Current series champion Matthew Brabham is set to take to the grid in 2020 while Robby Gordon, and former Supercars driver Paul Morris are also set to line-up in Adelaide.

“I’m excited to be coming back to the Superloop Adelaide 500 event in 2020, where it all started for us in Australia,” said Robby Gordon.

“This event is my favourite event anywhere in the world and I’d like to thank all of our supporters in Adelaide, and Australia, for their continued support to see us back on the streets of Adelaide next year.”

The 22nd edition of the iconic Superloop Adelaide 500 will host the season-opener of the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, alongside a number of off-track entertainment and attraction for fans of all ages.

The popular ‘Tracks of the World’ precinct will return bigger and better to showcase some of the most famous motorsport tracks and culture from around the world, while three big nights of concerts will ignite the post-race activity with acts to be announced in coming months.

The Superloop Adelaide 500 will take place 20 – 23 February 2020.

Stadium SUPER Trucks and CAMS Reach Partnership

August 21, 2019 – CAMS and SST can confirm today it has executed a three-year commercial rights agreement with Robby Gordon and Stadium SUPER Trucks, paving the way for the high-flying trucks to return to Australia as early as October 2019.

“The leadership at CAMS has always wanted to see the Stadium SUPER Trucks in Australia, and we are pleased to say that all of our safety concerns and related issues have been fully addressed and resolved.”

Stated CAMS CEO Eugene Arocca.

“There’s never been any doubt about the truck’s popularity here in Australia, and after months of discussions we are pleased to say SST racing is able to resume under CAMS.”

Nathan Cayzer, whom was an instrumental piece in bringing the SST Series to Australia in 2015 will continue to head all discussions around events and commercial partnerships in Australia.

“It is super exciting to be able to have SST return back to racing in Australia under the CAMS banner, an enormous amount of work has gone on behind the scenes for both parties to get to this point. With this positive result it is an overall win for all the supporters and motorsport fans of Australia,” Said Cayzer.

Robby Gordon and Stadium SUPER Trucks would like to thank Mr. Arocca and CAMS for their efforts in making this agreement a possibility and welcoming SST back to Australia under their sanctioning.

About SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks

Influenced by the former Mickey Thompson Stadium Off-Road Racing Series, where drivers such as Rick Mears, four time Indy 500 Winner, Casey Mears NASCAR race winner, Seven-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and Robby Gordon got their start, Gordon created SST in response to the public’s overwhelming interest in trucks and off-road racing. His plan to re-launch the former stadium series has led to exciting racing on both asphalt and dirt, while producing one of the most extreme forms of action sports today.

SST trucks have now evolved to race most of there events on pavement and set up portable ramps on street and road courses that launch the SST racers distances more than 150 feet, what sets the SST program apart from other series is the fact that all the SST trucks are identically prepared and delivered to drivers in race-ready condition. Race winners are decided by driver skill rather than individual team engineering and budgets. Drivers and their personal mechanics are assigned specific SST mechanics who together tune and make minor adjustments to the 600-horsepower trucks.
