Blade Hildebrand Wins Stadium Super Trucks 2019 Opener in Austin, Texas

Austin, Texas (March 23, 2019) – Blade Hildebrand claimed his first SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks win in the opening round of the 2019 SST World Championship in thrilling fashion Saturday afternoon at Circuit of the Americas in Austin, Texas.

Starting from the first position Travis Pecoy of Yorba Linda, California driving the Security State Bank entry for Cole Potts would jump out to the early lead.

However, that would not last for long as Blade Hildebrand of Yucca Valley, California in the Empire Destructive truck would blast past to the lead in turn 4 from his third starting position. Hildebrand would lead the first lap followed by Pecoy, and fourth starting Gavin Harlien of Mesa, Arizona.

Lap 2 would see Pecoy slip back two more positions, as Robby Gordon of Orange, California and Harlien would muscle their way past into second and third positions respectively. The next two laps would see Hildebrand, Gordon and Harlien battle hard with one another gunning for the top spot with Hildebrand holding them off attempt after attempt.

Gordon would duck to the inside of Hildebrand in turn 1 on the fourth lap, but contact between the two would force him to spin out loosing multiple positions.

That would leave Hildebrand and Harlien battling hard with one another for the top position. Harlien would hit one of the ramps wide open, landing hard on the left front.

As the competition caution would fly over the field Harlien’s water pump belt would come off allowing the truck to over heat forcing him to the pull into pit lane for assistance from the SST crew and ending his chances at victory.

On the restart 2018 SST Champion Matt Brabham of Gold Coast, Australia whom was lurking in the back of the field letting things sort out before making his move would work his way into the second position quietly.

Hildebrand and Brabham would pull away as the battle for the third position would heat up, as Gordon and VP Racing Fuel & Lubricants driver Jeff Hoffman would begin a great battle with one another.

Lap 7 would see Brabham not hit a ramp squarely, and rip off the break line causing him to spin out and out of contention.

Hoffman would pass Gordon for the second position at the start of the final lap, but Gordon would work his way back past as Hoffman’s rear end housing would break causing him to come to a halt on the race track ending his day early.

Hildebrand would hold off a last lap charge by Gordon to capture his first SST victory followed by Ryan Beat driving in his first SST race would quietly avoid all of he wild race action to put the Continental Tire truck on the podium.

The SST trucks will return to Circuit of the Americas for their second race of the weekend on Sunday at 10:40 am local time.

Winter X Games Gold Medalist Nick Baumgartner to Compete in X Games Austin

nick1
Iron River, Mich. (April 29, 2014) – Nick Baumgartner will officially become a dual sport X Games athlete June 5-8 when he competes in X Games Austin. Both Baumgartner and off road truck racing will make their X Games debuts in the Texas heat. Baumgartner will go to battle in the No. 12 Loctite® SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road Presented by Traxxas SST fighting for X Games Austin Gold.

“I have worked so hard for these opportunities and having my dream of racing the Summer X Games come true is so awesome,” Baumgartner said. “I am so thankful that Henkel and the Loctite® products team believes in me and what I am doing. Without their support I would not be living my dreams and competing to be the best on the snow and in the truck.”

“Nick’s enthusiasm and commitment to success is very inspiring to so many people, making him a great ambassador for Henkel and our Loctite brand of adhesives and sealants,” said Mike Shannahan, General Industrial Marketing Director for Henkel Corporation, North America. “We are proud to support Nick in his latest challenge of competing in the Stadium Super Truck race in this year’s Summer X Games. With the aggressive style demonstrated by Nick in both Snowboard X and off road truck racing, combined with the high performance and reliability of the Loctite products used on his race truck, we are confident Nick will be a dominant force in the upcoming Summer X event.”

Baumgartner has a lot of seat time in a Stadium Super Truck and in his last SPEED Energy Formula Off-Road Presented by Traxxas SST race he finished third pressuring off-road legends Robby Gordon and Rob MacCachren right to the finish line. Gordon and Baumgartner would jump the final ramp side by side for an epic finish.

“I am stoked to represent the Winter X Games athletes in Austin,” Baumgartner continued.

Fresh off the Olympics, Baumgartner is now switching gears and preparing for the off-road racing season. Due to the importance of this snowboard season and making the toughest Olympic Team in the world, lining up sponsors and raising money for the season had to be pushed back so focus was in the right place. Look for Baumgartner’s team very soon at a track near you.

SST TO JOIN X GAMES AUSTIN IN 2014

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (December 11, 2013) – Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Trucks (SST) series has been selected by ESPN to join the complement of sports at the upcoming X Games Austin event, taking place in Texas on June 8, 2014 at Circuit of the Americas.

Influenced by the former Mickey Thompson Stadium Off-Road Racing Series, where drivers such as Gordon, Casey Mears and six-time NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson got their start, Gordon created SST in response to the public’s overwhelming interest in trucks and off-road racing. His plan to redevelop the former stadium series has led to exciting racing on both asphalt and dirt, while producing one of the most extreme forms of action motorsport today.

“We’re thrilled to have Robby Gordon’s Stadium Super Truck Series join the complement of sports at X Games Austin,” said Tim Reed, senior director of content strategy. “We look forward to working with the Stadium Super Truck team, and showcasing to ESPN X Games audiences around the world a very entertaining form of truck racing.”

Other than the trucks launching more than 20 feet in the air covering distances more than 150 feet under race conditions, what sets the SST program apart from other series is the fact that all the SST trucks are identically prepared and delivered to drivers in race-ready condition. Races are decided by driver skill alone rather than individual team engineering and budgets. Drivers and their personal mechanics are assigned specific SST technicians who together tune and make minor adjustments to the 600-HP trucks.

“It is a great honor to have been chosen by ESPN to bring Stadium Super Trucks to the X Games,” Gordon said. “The X Games are the premier action-sport property in the world, and this is a testament to the fact that SST is the most extreme four-wheel motorsport on earth. Circuit of the Americas in Texas will be a great venue to showcase SST to the X Games audiences.”

The X Games will be one of 15 rounds currently scheduled for the 2014 SST season. Following the successful inaugural season of the Stadium Super Trucks, the 2014 SST schedule features 10 race venues, all within North America’s top-50 markets, including six venues within the top-15.

In 2013, the season championship came down to the last race, ending with a points difference from first to second of only seven points (a total of three points paying positions on track for the season). This is a testament to how competitive and equal the trucks really are. P.J. Jones won his first SST race at the season-ending event at Caesars Palace on the Las Vegas Strip. Other race winners in the first SST season included McCachren (4 wins), Gordon (3), Lofton (3), Sheldon Creed (2) and Jerrett Brooks (1). In 14 rounds of competition, 27 world-class drivers took part in the series, including popular drivers Paul Tracy, Davey Hamilton, Kyle LeDuc, Arie Luyendyk Jr., Jeff Ward, Mike Jenkins and Ricky Johnson.
