SPEED Energy Stadium Super Trucks Return to the Grand Prix of Long Beach this Weekend!
Long Beach, California (April 11, 2019) – SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks continue the 2019 Championship with its seventh straight appearance at the Grand Prix of Long Beach this weekend with practice and qualifying Friday, Race 1 Saturday, and Race 2 the finale of the weekend on Sunday afternoon.
Last year’s races on the streets of Long Beach saw Gavin Harlien withstand a hard charging Robby Gordon to capture the Race 1 win after the race was declared official after 7 Laps, because of a rollover accident. Race 2 would see Matt Brabham come from his back row starting position to take the lead on Lap 6, and pull away from the field to capture the win in front a capacity crowd.
Both Gavin Harlien of Mesa, Arizona and 2018 SST Champion Matt Brabham of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia will be back to defend their wins from of a year ago. Both drivers will however be running different liveries than they were in 2018, Harlien will be driving the black and white KMC Wheels entry, and Brabham the blue and gray Carlisle colors.
Current Stadium SUPER Trucks point’s leader Blade Hildebrand of Yucca Valley, California will be back at Long Beach driving the VP Racing Fuels and Lubricants entry this weekend in front of his home state fans. Grabbing his first SST win at Circuit of the Americas in Austin just three weeks ago the young California driver is riding a wave of momentum into this weekend and gunning for another win.
Another California native whom has had plenty of success at Long Beach is Robby Gordon, the Orange driver will be looking to capture his fourth SST Long Beach win behind the wheel of the familiar orange SPEED Energy/ Toyo Tires/ KMC Wheels truck.
Coming off a violent roll over at Texas Motor Speedway two weeks ago Team UFD driver Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Pennsylvania will have his bright blue United Fiber and Data/ LIVE/ Think Loud Development truck ready to make his fifth start at the Long Beach Street Circuit.
Phoenix, Arizona driver Jeff Hoffman will also be in action this weekend behind the wheel of his No. 47 truck. Having a rough couple opening weekends to the season Hoffman will be looking to put his truck back on the podium.
Making his first SST start of the year EJ Chiba of Tokyo, Japan will join the field driving the Nakata Coating, and FA Coat truck. Chiba would make his Stadium SUPER Trucks debut last year at the Texas Motor Speedway earning a respectable eight place finish in the first race, and would encounter a mechanical issue in the second race after eight laps ending his night early.
Returning back to Stadium SUPER Trucks competition for his first race of 2019 after being sidelined for the first two events by a concussion sustained at Mint 400, Cole Potts of Scottsdale, Arizona is well rested and eager as ever to put the Security State Bank/ Innovative Computer Professionals truck back on the podium.
Video of the crash that sidelined Potts can be viewed at the link below:

As the case every year the high-flying trucks leave a memorable mark on the 100,000+ fans attending the race weekend, and hope to deliver the same type of action packed excitement this year.
SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks will take to the track on Friday for Practice/ Qualifying at 12:20 PM local time, with Race 1 will be contested Saturday afternoon at 4:15 PM, and Race 2 the finale of the weekend at 4:05 PM Sunday.

The Stadium Super Trucks were so entertaining as they drove into Turn 1 and there was only like 8-9 of them. 30+ stock cars would be nuts. — John Haverlin (@JohnHaverlin) March 24, 2019
