Zach Van Matre to make First SST Start in HD Supply White Cap Backed Entry at Grand Prix of Long Beach

Long Beach, California (April 12, 2019) – Stadium SUPER Trucks officials announced today that desert racer and stunt driver Zach Van Matre will make his first ever race start in an SST truck this weekend at the Grand Prix of Long Beach in Long Beach, California.

Van Matre, an up and coming Baja racer in the Pro UTV class with four starts in the prestigious Baja 1000 to his credit would also find victory lane for the first time in the 2018 edition of the NORRA Mexican 1000 driving one of Robby Gordon’s SPEEDSXS.com XX racecars.

“After doing various amount of testing in the XX and SST over the last two years, I’m extremely excited to get behind the wheel of a SST truck again, and actually race it for real. My last opportunity to drive a SST truck came in a stunt-driving role in Australia for a SuperCheap Auto commercial during the 2017 season,” Stated Van Matre.

“Being from Orange, California and to have the opportunity to drive one of these trucks at the legendary Grand Prix of Long Beach with some of the best names to ever strap into a SST truck is an absolute honor. I have a lot to learn in a short amount of time, but I am up for the challenge.”
