LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 9, 2017) – Series veteran Robby Gordon had his Toyo Tires and KMC Wheels hooked up on Sunday afternoon jumping out to an early lead from the ninth starting position. With no one able to contest Gordon the Orange, California native would capture his second SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks victory of the 2017 season in convincing fashion.

From the wave of the green flag you could tell it was Gordon’s race to win as he weaved through the hornets’ nest of trucks in front of him. As all of the other competitors made contact with each other Gordon steered clear and was able to move into the second position by Lap-2.

Successfully making a move on Burbank, California driver Erik Davis at the start of Lap-3 for the lead was all that was needed. The final 9 laps Gordon went uncontested to claim victory at Long Beach once again.

Fast qualifier and Saturday winner Matt Brabham of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia driving the SafeCraft Safety Equipment truck would start in the twelfth position and would not have ability to the make it to the front as easy as Gordon. Getting stuck behind some slower trucks Brabham really had to work his way to get to the front. Never having a real good chance to contest Gordon for the lead, Brabham would settle for second place.

Gavin Harlien of Mesa, Arizona had a career weekend behind the wheel of his Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck. Capturing a third place finish on Saturday, Harlien was eager to improve his position on the podium. Moving to the front of the field early in the event from his eighth starting spot, Harlien was able to hold off the charging trucks behind him to finish third for the second day in a row.

LIVE/ United Fiber and Data driver Paul Morris of Norwell, Queensland, Australia made early contact in the race with another driver where his hood would blow up in his face and hinder his vision for the first half of the event. Morris would shake the piece blocking his view during the competition caution, and would pass truck after truck to move into the fourth position. After challenging Gavin Harlien multiple time for the third position unsuccessfully, Morris held his ground and would finish in the fourth spot.

TruFuel driver Jeff Hoffman of Phoenix, Arizona raced to the front of the field from his sixth starting position and would remain there the entire race. Battling hard with the likes of Paul Morris, Matt Brabham, and Gavin Harlien. Hoffman would go on to finish in the fifth position for the second day in a row. After having seven asphalt races now under his belt in 2017 Hoffman has now gotten very comfortable behind the wheel of his SST to where he can be a front runner each time out.

Scottsdale, Arizona driver Arie Luyendyk Jr. in the LIVE/United Fiber & Data truck would hangout around near the rear of the field most of the race after making contact with the tire wall. The younger Luyendyk would recover to finish the 12-lap event in the sixth position one spot better than the day prior.

For the second day in a row Indianapolis, Indiana driver Davey Hamilton would run at the front of the field at the beginning of the race contending for his first ever podium. However, after the competition caution Hamilton would feel the swarm of other trucks behind him falling back position after position to ultimately finish in the seventh spot.

Anaheim, California driver Myles Cheek making his second ever SST start on Sunday proved the young racer was feeling right at home in a SST truck as he hung around the front of the field from his fifth place starting position until getting loose battling Gavin Harlien for the third position on Lap-5. Cheek would bounce off the tire wall and damage the front end of his CMI Precision Machining/ Outlaw LED truck. After making a trip down pit road to remove the hood, Cheek would limp the No. 257 around the track the final circuits to be credited with the eighth position.

After bicycling his truck and crashing hard into the wall on Saturday afternoon Erik Davis of Burbank, California would start from the pole position on Sunday. Davis would lead the first two laps of the race before being over taken and running mid pack until a Lap-8 spin. Davis would recover and finish the Always Evolving truck in the ninth position.

United Fiber and Data/ LIVE driver Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Pennsylvania whom was fighting a case of the flu all weekend would fight through it and run a steady and clean race go on to finish the ten-lap event in the tenth position.

After hard contact on Saturday afternoon the SST crew worked hard overnight to get Lodi, California driver Troy Deide ready for Sunday afternoons race, but after pulling onto the track for the sight in lap Diede immediately pulled Diede Construction entry directly onto the pit road with brake issues. The No. 441 would not start the race and was credited with the eleventh position.

The overall standings over the three races would see Matt Brabham first, with Robby Gordon claiming second, and Paul Morris rounding out the top three.

SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks will continue the 2017 SST World Championship with Rounds No. 8, 9, & 10; May 5, 6 & 7 at the Barbagallo Raceway in Perth, Western Australia, Australia.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (April 8, 2017) – Matt Brabham of Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia managed to avoid the carnage in the first half of the race to work his way past competitor after competitor and hold off a late charge by fellow Australian Paul Morris to earn back to back SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks victories of the young 2017 World Championship.

Friday’s Fast qualifier did not miss a beat on Saturday starting from the last position after the full field inversion.

The SafeCraft Safety Equipment entry worked his way to the front of the field following Norwell, Queensland, Australia driver Paul Morris driving the LIVE backed entry. By the fourth lap the only two Australians in the field were leading 10 other hungry American drivers.

Brabham would make several attempts at passing Morris as the two would put on a incredible driving exhibition for the thousands of fans whom lined the fences all around the 11-turn 1.968 mile temporary street circuit along the picturesque Pacific Ocean. Brabham would make a daring pass inside of Morris at beginning of Lap-7 to grab the lead.

However, the red flag would fly over the track on mid way thru Lap-7, as Burbank, California driver Erik Davis in the Always Evolving truck would bicycle his truck in his corner tipping it over on the side, and make heavy contact with the outside wall. The stoppage of the race would allow Morris to regain his composure, and make another attempt at the lead of Brabham on the restart.

Drafting Brabham down the long front straightaway Morris was able to slingshot past the young Brabham at the last second to grab the lead back. Racing clean as they can in SST racing Brabham would stay right in the tire tracks of Morris for the next 4 corners until he was able to set him back up for a last lap pass for the win.

Brabham would go on to capture back-to-back SST wins of the young 2017 SST World Championship season. Consistency wins championships and Morris would go on to capture his fourth podium finish of the season.

Making his return to the Grand Prix of Long Beach since 2014 Gavin Harlien of Mesa, Arizona driving the Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck would look to backup his previous successful finish. Starting in the seventh position Harlien would remain with the lead pack the entire race even contesting Brabham for the second position on Lap-6. Harlien would survive a real test the last three laps of the 9-lap race as Robby Gordon would be right on his bumper stalking every move to get by. Harlien would hold off one of the greats of SST racing to record his first ever SST podium.

Orange, California driver Robby Gordon sporting the Toyo Tires/ KMC Wheels livery this weekend would hang back in the pack waiting for things to sort out avoiding all of the carnage the first half of the race. After the competition caution Gordon would continue to pick off truck after truck through the field to ultimately finish in the fourth position after contesting Harlien multiple times for the third spot.

Jeff Hoffman of Phoenix, Arizona would show strong signs of competing for a podium early in the event keeping up with the quick pace of leaders hitting all his braking points and learning to conserve his equipment in only his sixth asphalt race ever. The young Hoffman would avoid contact with the other competitors and go on to finish the event in the fifth position.

Arie Luyendyk Jr. of Scottsdale, Arizona driving the LIVE/ United Fiber & Data truck would encounter a flat tire early in the first half of the event and would drop back in the field after a quick visit to hot pit area to change it. After the competition caution would re-group the field back up Luyendyk would battle through the hornets nest of trucks to finish in the sixth place.

Making his first ever Stadium SUPER Trucks start Myles Cheek of Anaheim, California would drive a smart and conservative race learning his braking points and staying out of trouble to finish the CMI Precision Machining truck in the seventh spot.

Davey Hamilton Jr. of Indianapolis, Indiana racing in his second straight SST event in the Always Evolving truck would run up front for a small portion of the event leading two laps before the missing his mark in the braking zone and loosing multiple positions to settle back mid-pack battling hard in the chaos. Hamilton would go on to finish respectively in the eighth position.

SPEED Energy/ Toyo Tires driver P.J. Jones of Scottsdale, Arizona would go on to finish the nine-lap event in the ninth position after late contact with Arie Luyendyk Jr. would send him spinning from his sixth place running position.

Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Pennsylvania battling through a case of the flu would safely navigate the United Fiber & Data/ LIVE truck to a tenth place finish after encountering brake issues early in the event.

The rollover on Lap-7 for Erik Davis was just far too much for the Always Evolving truck as the damage acquired would force the truck to be towed off the racing service crediting Davis with the eleventh position.

Lodi, California driver Troy Deide would loose the handle on his Deide Construction truck going for the lead on Lap-2 making extensive contact with the outside wall. The damage to the front end was just too much to continue causing Deide to pull off the track and be scored in the twelfth position.

The second and final round of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks at the 2017 Grand Prix of Long Beach will take place Sunday at 4:05 PM PT just after the completion of the IndyCar Series event.

ADELAIDE, S.A., AUSTRALIA (March 5, 2017) – Veteran Australian racer Paul Morris of Norwell, Queensland, Australia captured his first ever SPEED Energy Stadium Super Trucks win Sunday in the shortened finale of the Adelaide Casino Stadium SUPER Trucks portion of the Clipsal 500.

Shortly after the green flag waved Friday’s Round 1 winner Craig Dontas of Adelaide, South Australia would bicycle his Shannons Insurance/ Milwaukee Tools truck around turn 7 tipping it upside down. The accident would bring out the red flag, and would require an extensive amount of time for the removal and clean up of the vehicle.

Due to the length of the delay the amount of laps of the race were shortened due to time constraints. The new scheduled amount of laps would be five instead of the originally scheduled eight.

The single file rolling restart saw both Royal Purple Synthetic Oil trucks of Phoenix, Airz; driver Jeff Hoffman and Mesa, Ariz.; driver Gavin Harlien race side-by-side before Hoffman would pull a three truck lead on him.

However, the man on the move was the driver of the SuperCheap Auto/ Hungry Jack’s entry as Paul Morris moved past Harlien, and caught Hoffman passing him in a drag race down the pit straight starting the third lap.

On the last lap Gold Coast, Queensland driver Matt Brabham driving the SafeCraft Safety Equipment truck would battle hard for the third position with Orange, Calif.; Robby Gordon, and Boost Mobile driver Sheldon Creed from El Cajon, Calif.; the three drivers would slice back and forth changing positions until Creed would loose the handle on his truck spinning out in the grass loosing the lead pack.

The same lap saw Gavin Harlien loose the handle on his truck spinning in front of the field, and causing complete chaos behind him involving multiple other competitors.

Morris would go on to capture his first ever SST victory, ahead of Brabham, and Hoffman who rounded out the podium.

Gordon, driving his familiar orange and black SPEED Energy/ Toyo Tires truck would finish in the fourth position, ahead of Creed who would be credited with the fifth position.

For the third straight day Greg Gartner of Penola, South Australia would keep the R&J Battery/ Fuchs entry towards the front of the field, but would run out of time and be credited with the sixth position. After spinning on the last lap from his third running position Gavin Harlien driving the Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck would get the truck back pointed in the right direction and would finish the chaos filled race in the seventh position.

Just like the two days prior Erik Davis of Burbank, Calif.; driving the Always Evolving/ AerNow/ Replay XD truck would once again end up in a late race tangle that would affect his finishing position landing in the eighth position, while Jeff Hoffman from Phoenix, Ariz.; driving the Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck was credited with ninth.

Travis Milburn of Adelaide, South Australia after having finishing in the top five the two previous days would not fair so well in race 3. Milburn would be involved in the chaos on the last lap and would bring the No. 25 TRG Transport across the finish in the ninth position.

Saturday’s Round 2 runner-up Toby Price of Aberglasslyn, New South Whales driving the McDonalds/ Preston Hire truck would be credited with the tenth spot after being spun around in a last lap skirmish with multiple trucks. Nazareth, Penn. driver Bill Hynes piloting the No. 57 Fleurieu Milk truck would keep his truck clean all weekend avoiding all the carnage and finishing in the eleventh spot.

After flipping on the first lap, the damaged Shannons Insurance/ Milwaukee Tools truck of Dontas would be taken back to the paddock, and was scored in the twelfth position.

The overall standings over the three races would see Sheldon Creed first, with Paul Morris claming second, and Matt Brabham rounding out the top three.

SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks will continue the 2017 SST World Championship with Rounds No. 4 & 5 next weekend March 11 & 12 at the Grand Prix of St. Petersburg in St. Petersburg, Fla.

BOOST Mobile and Sheldon Creed Victorious in SST Round 2 in Adelaide, Australia

ADELAIDE, S.A., AUSTRALIA (March 4, 2017) – Sheldon Creed out dueled Toby Price in Saturday’s thrilling second round of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide, South Australia.

Pole sitter Robby Gordon of Orange, Calif.; driving the SPEED Energy/ Toyo Tires truck would benefit from a poor finish on Friday to start up front in Round 2.

From the wave of the green flag Gordon wasted no time jumping out to the early lead, but it did not take Aberglasslyn, New South Whales driver Toby Price to work his way through the field from his eight starting position to track down Gordon on Lap-2.

The two competitors traded positions back and forth with close hard racing for multiple laps before Gordon attempted an aggressive slide job in Turn-14 loosing control and spinning out allowing Price to pull away.

Falling right into the battle where Gordon left off would be eleventh starting Sheldon Creed of El Cajon, Calif.; first racing the SuperCheap Auto/Hungry Jack’s truck of Gold Coast, Queensland driver Paul Morris hard for the second position and then quickly setting his sights on race leader Price.

After the competition caution Creed and Price would race side by side for multiple corners, until Creed would launch the BOOST Mobile truck into a daring move to the outside of Price to inch in front of the McDonald’s entry and successfully complete the pass entering the corner.

The Australian motorcycle hero would keep pace with the ultra quick Creed the final lap, but would never be able to make a move to regain the lead.

Creed would capture his first victory of the 2017 season, ahead of second finishing Price. Gordon would work his way back from his early spin to round out the podium.

Following Saturday’s second race of the season, Creed considered Saturday’s victory sweet redemption from a podium finish being taken away from him on Friday with a penalty late in the race.

Coming off a second place finish in Friday afternoons opening event Paul Morris would have another quality finish crossing the line in fourth while Adelaide, South Australia racer Travis Milburn driving the TRG Transport truck rounded out the top for the second straight day.

Penola, South Australia; driver Greg Gartner was sixth in his R & J Battery/ Fuchs No. 410, followed in seventh by Mesa, Arizona racer Gavin Harlien driving the Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck.

Getting in a tangle late in the race for the second day, Erik Davis of Burbank, Calif.; driving the Always Evolving/ AerNow/ Replay XD truck would finish in the eighth position, while Jeff Hoffman from Phoenix, Ariz.; driving the Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck was credited with ninth.

Fleurieu Milk driver Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Penn. would go on to finish the eight lap event in the tenth position ahead of Fridays opening round winner Adelaide, South Australia’s Craig Dontas who would encounter a broken axle early in the event and would just log laps under slow speeds. The No. 45 would be recorded in the eleventh position at the completion of the eight laps.

After hard contact with the outside wall early in the event Gold Coast, Queensland driver Matt Brabham driving the SafeCraft Saftey Equipment No. 83 would retire before the completion of the event, and would get credited with the twelfth and final position.

The SST trucks will return to the Adelaide Street Circuit for there third and final round of the Clipsal 500 on Saturday at 2:15 pm local time in front of another capacity crowd.

Worst to First Local Australian Craig Dontas Claims Victory in Stadium Super Trucks 2017 Opening Event in Adelaide, Australia

ADELAIDE, S.A., AUSTRALIA (March 3, 2017) – After struggling to hit his marks on the fast and technical temporary street circuit in yesterdays practice session Adelaide local Craig Dontas flipped a switch over night, and became the class of the field winning Stadium Super Trucks round No. 1 on Friday afternoon.

Pole sitter Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Penn.; would jump out to an early lead in the Fleurieu Milk entry, and lead the first lap of competition before Dontas driving the Shannons Insurance/ Milwaukee Tools truck would work his way around Hynes to the front from his third starting position.

While Dontas was checked out at the front of the field all the action was behind him as Paul Morris of Norwell, Queensland and Gold Coast, Queensland driver Matt Brabham aggressively charged past truck after truck from their seventh and twelfth starting positions to the withstand a plethora of contact and spinning trucks to set themselves up for a shootout for the win the final two laps with Dontas.

As the three diced back and forth for the lead on the restart after the competition caution the red flag would be displayed for an accident by Mesa, Arizona driver Gavin Harlien just as Morris would take the lead from Dontas. The race would be ended under the red flag for clean up, resulting in the finishing order to be reverted to the last completed lap.

This would grant Dontas the first victory of his young SST driving career in just his fourth ever start. Morris would be credited with the second position in the SuperCheap Auto/ Hungry Jack’s entry, while Brabham would round out the podium in his Safecraft Safety Equipment truck.

Making his return to racing after suffering a badly broken leg in early January at the Dakar Rally. Australian 2-wheel legend Toby Price of Aberglasslyn, New South Whales would immediately move his McDonald’s truck forward from his tenth starting position at the wave of the green flag.

Following the tracks of 2015 & 2016 SST Champion Sheldon Creed of El Cajon, Calif.; Price would look to the inside of Creed on Lap-2, but the two would tangle with Price receiving extensive damage to his hood. With the Preston Hire hood bouncing all over the place Price’s vision would be hindered as he worked his way up to the fourth position by Lap-3. Price would remain in the fourth position the rest of the event after shedding the hood.

After making his SST debut at last year’s Clipsal 500 Travis Milburn of Adelaide, Australia looked to improve on his finish of last year. Keeping the truck clean with conservative driving Milburn would avoid all obstacles bringing home the TRG Transport SST to the finish in the fifth position.

Penola, South Australia driver Greg Gartner finished a respectable sixth place in the R&J Batteries/Delkor Calcium/ Fuchs entry after running near the front of the field the first few laps before getting shuffled backwards.

Creed the fastest competitor on track by far would fall victim to a costly mistake to be credited with the seventh finishing position. Not making a make a stop and go penalty for driving through the rocks would place force race control to place Creed at the end of the field at the competition caution. Creed would just run out of time to advance to the front after the race ending early.

Burbank, Calif.; driver Erik Davis in the Always Evolving/AerNow truck would drop two positions from his sixth starting spot to finish eighth after bouncing off multiple trucks and keeping things rolling forward the entire race.

After receiving a stop and go penalty for driving through the rocks on Lap-2 Jeff Hoffman of Phoenix, Arizona would quickly learn about SST racing after encountering contact with a few other trucks in his first SST race. The Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck would be credited with the ninth position.

First position starter Bill Hynes of Nazareth, Penn. would encounter mechanical issues at the beginning of the race setting the United Fiber & Data entry back multiple laps off the start. The No. 57 would be recorded in the tenth position at the completion of the eight laps.

Orange, Calif. driver Robby Gordon back driving his familiar orange and black SPEED Energy/ Toyo Tires truck for the 2017 season would encounter a broken axle early in the race, and would never move forward from his 10 starting position finishing the 8-lap race coasting around the rear of the field. Gordon would go on to be credited with the eleventh finishing position.

After making contact with Erik Davis and rolling over on Lap-8 Gavin Harlien would be scored in the twelfth and final position in his Royal Purple Synthetic Oil truck.

The SST trucks will return to the Adelaide Street Circuit for there second round of the Clipsal 500 on Saturday at 1:30 pm local time in front of an anticipated capacity crowd of over 150,000 motorsports fans.
